Business travel differences-Impact on Company growth

27-06-2023 In addition to monetary benefits, perks, business travels play a major role in Company’s overall development. Almost 90% of employees dissatisfaction of Business travel when compared to their Co-workers. More than 60% of employees are willing, but not able to get Business travel opportunities than their Co-workers. Around 40% are getting Business travel opportunities due to their Gender and their safety in overnight travels. When it comes to the position in the hierarchy of the Company, Managers should be given more importance for Business travels – so as they can keep touch with their Clients. Managers/HOD of Divisions in a Company also won’t get equal opportunity for Business travels to meet their Clients. May be due to the turnover their Division make, Profits made by their Division, importance of the Division in the Company. In some Companies Semi finished Goods divisions will be there, where no importance is given. Not only Managers, field level persons should be given equal importance in the way of their tour allowances. Tour allowances’ difference between Co-workers play significant role in the dissatisfaction of Business travels. Office staff working in Accounts, Logistics, Reception Desk, IT, etc do not get even a chance to travel, due to their work related positions. These office staff should also given a chance to meet the related Branch offices in person. May be once in 6 months or a year according to the needs. Major damage caused to Business Travel is COVID-19, which has impacted a lot on restrictions of Business Travel. Adding fuel is inflation, lay offs, Budget cuts, travel freezes. Virtual meets made almost zero Business travels in some Companies. Work from home made worse the situation. Inspite of all these hurdles, few employees enjoy High class Business Travels. This create indifference in the minds of other employees – may not expose their dissatisfaction to the Management, but inner feeling remains questioning them. (Little expalained in Tour allowances differences) Another point is working place. Who work in Remote places, get very less opportunity or no opportunity, when compared to employees working in Head offices or Capital Cities. Time taken for their Business travel (3-4 days with Bus/Train) when compared to Co-workers (1 day by Flight) in the Capitals. 10 to 25% employees are happy for not forcing them to go for Business travels, due to reasons like Age, Children, Parents care, Health factors. Impact of Business Travel differences is not felt much as on now, but in future, young generation employees see this Parameter also while joining. Companies had to gear up with this factor also. Though some MNCs already with these policies, Mid level, Indigeneous Companies should take care. Thanking you.
